Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Program

The Bachelor of Arts in Architecture degree offered at UMA is the only pre-professional architecture program in Maine.  Opening in 1989 as a northeast architecture school, we believe a designed environment is much more than sophisticated technological. The B.A. in Architecture Program views a work-of-architecture as a meaningful social and aesthetic setting, influencing its user's experience.  By emphasizing a creative and conceptual approach to design, the student discovers the impact of space, scale, light, acoustics, and human factors on the design experience.

Our curriculum emphasizes a creative and behavioral design approach, and was developed to help prepare students for immediate transfer into a professional Master's program in architecture with advanced standing. Graduates may also proceed directly into careers in architecture or other related design professions.

The BAC Connection

B.A. in Architecture graduates command advanced placement in The Boston Architectural College professional Master's program. The level of our students' work, curriculum approach and content, and the high quality of our faculty have brought our two schools together in a professional transfer agreement.
